I am handicapped and on a disability pension. I do not wish to be on this forever as I hate depending on the gov for funds. So i’d like to invest now since i am young but as it turns out I am not allowed to own more than 2k of any investments or they cut me.. which is hardly a strong foundation to survive on the profits of. =(

I’ve been studying different markets; stocks, realestate, bonds, tax liens but it seems the IRS would always know what i’m doing even if i didn’t report. And I dont really want to do anything illegal but I also do not want them in my business if i can invest in territory that they have no control over.

So i thought that they couldn’t possibly watch over everything..

Yes, I know i’m really suppose to report every little dime I earn from anything and everything, from any location but I look at it as a don’t-ask-don’t-tell.

The only thing i can think of is maybe some stock markets in other places of the world have markets in countries that dont report?

I’m 17 and have 500 bucks I want to invest. What are some good investments. I don’t really want to do stocks. What are my options? Tax liens? CDs? What is the best choice for me? (I don’t really know what a tax lien is or a CD so please explain)

Thanks

Okay, I love the tax advantages of a Roth Individual Retirement Account, but I hate being told what I can and can't invest MY money in. I could put it in a freakin' triangular hole in the ground, if I felt like it. But anyway, I'm looking for a Roth IRA that will allow me to invest in:
1. Lending to people via Prosper.com
2. The deeds to rental properties that pay for themselves and pay into the account
3. Tax liens and/or tax lien certificates
4. Stocks

I want to invest in _all_ of those things. I DO NOT want to invest in annuities, cds, or mutual funds. Those pathetic investments are dead to me.

Does anyone know where to look for my desired IRA?

Ive heard that investing in tax deeds by mail is profitable. I just wanna know about how much money is needed to get started and what states & county's are really good investments.

*sheepish* I saw an infomercial on tax lien investing and they were claiming to get huge returns on the investments. Something like 50%

Is this true? And what exactly is tax lien investing?
