We live in CA. I notice some foreclosures have a tax lien, but most don’t. I have heard that if the property has a tax lien, then the person’s credit is affected for 15 years. I have tried contacting the Tax people in the County, but they are useless. We are just curious if we don’t pay our property taxes b/c we are facing foreclosure (because of a job loss and an illness, so please don’t judge us) when will the taxes become liens against the credit, if ever?

The vacant lot next to me is going up for auction the first week in May because the owner has not paid his property taxes. Is it true that if I win the property through the bidding process, that the owner has at least a year in order to try and get the property returned to him?

My husband had financed/purchased a property with his own name. However, he listed me on the deed. The home is now in foreclosure preceedings and I am worried that if I don’t pay the property taxes for that property that I am liable for the taxes and it will impact my credit score and ability to rent. Also, if a property tax lien is placed on my credit - how does that work. Do they place it for every missed tax payment?

He has never but any interest in the property and I never wanted him to. I thought I needed to have someones name on the property along with mine in case I was to die without a will. Needless to say Now I want to sell the properties and because we no longer have a relationship he is refusing to take his name off of or sign the deed over to a new owner. So can I file a quit claim deed. Or is there something else I can do to force him to sign off. All documentation of invested interest is in my name and nor does he deny that he was on put on the properties deeds in case of my death. I’m going broke trying to pay the property taxes on two empty houses.
What if I don't have money for a attorney what options do I have.

We are hoping to buy some property, but apparently the owner hasn't paid property taxes on it in over 4 years. A company called Heartwood 88 has a tax certificate on the place…would we be purchasing the tax certificate from them or do we still need to go through the current owner?? any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!
The problem is….I can't find the owner!!
